Name The common name is grape hyacinth, from the way their flowerhead resembles that of a hyacinth. Origin Native to Greece and the Middle East, but has been grown in the UK since 1576. Colour Shades of blue including navy as well as lilac and white. Availability Winter months, main season January to April Family Grape hyacinths are related to hyacinths, and to lily of the valley. They are fairly well known as garden plants, but now they are also available as cut flowers and potted bulbs for indoors. |
