Discovered by Baron St Paul Illaire in the 1800s. Commonly known as African violet.
Mountainous regions of South Africa and Tanzania (especially the Usumbara mountains)
Pinks, purples, whites, and a rare yellow
Can rot if the hairy leaves get wet. Always water into the saucer the pot is sitting in.
